The following websites are reliable sources of information
on suicide prevention. The numerous links from these sites
have not been screened, and we do not intend to endorse them;
however, the parent organizations for the following websites
are nationally recognized as a reputable source of information.
The
National Suicide Prevention
Resource Center provides
a library,
resources, and prevention support specialists.
American
Association of Suicidology was founded in 1968
and promotes research, public education,
and training with its publications, bookstore, listserve,
and annual conference.
American
Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) funds research,
education and treatment programs aimed at
the prevention of suicide. AFSP also provides support
for survivors.
The Suicide Prevention Action
Network USA's (SPAN USA)
goal is to support survivors of suicide in channeling
their loss
into positive action
to prevent future suicides.
WISQARSTM (Web-based Injury Statistics Query and
Reporting System) is an interactive
database system that provides customized reports
of injury-related data, including suicide. It
is maintained by the federal agency,
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The National Strategy for Suicide Prevention at is a collaborative
effort of many including CDC, SAMHSA, NIMH,
HIS, HRSA and outlines priorities for the nation.
