Irving and Barbara C. Gutin founded both the Jeffrey Gutin Fund for Young Adults and the Irving and Barbara C. Gutin Charitable Foundation. Mr. Gutin is a retired executive of a major US corporation. He serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Suicidology. Mr. and Mrs. Gutin spent over 20 years in New Hampshire and Maine and now reside in Florida.

Suicide Prevention Partnership Advisory Board

Carol Baker is Director of the Bureau of Crime Prevention and Youth Services in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where she manages programs for at-risk youth and oversees other crime prevention and community outreach efforts for the largest local prosecutorial agency in the United States. The mental illness and suicide of her stepson Brendan focused her on the critical need for effective suicide prevention efforts.

Alan L. Berman, Ph.D, is Executive Director of the American Association of Suicidology. He also is a partner in a private psychotherapy and psychological consultation practice. He has done research in and has been involved in suicidology and suicide prevention since 1970.

Joe Diament is program director of the New Futures Adolescent Treatment Initiative. Previously he served as Director of the NH Department of Health and Human Services’ Division for Juvenile Justice Services. For many years, he was CEO of Odyssey House, an organization that serves troubled and troubling youth. He earned his bachelors and master’s degrees at Penn State University.

Cheryl Elliott is Jeffrey Gutin’s stepsister. She earned a BFA in film and television production and developed network television series and public service announcements for a number of years. Currently, she is involved in school and community efforts with her two daughters.

Gary Fagin, M.D., MPH, served for many years as medical director of Tyco International. He is a friend of the Gutin family. He lost a close friend to suicide and wants to do everything in his power to prevent others from considering suicide.

Nina J. Gutin, Ph.D., is Jeffrey Gutin’s sister, and a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Pasadena, CA. She trains and supervises student interns in a variety of programs and clinical settings. She has made presentations on suicide at national conferences.

Michael A. Robinson, MBA, is former Senior Vice President and Corporate Treasurer of Tyco International Ltd., a $40 billion manufacturing and service conglomerate. Previously, he was a vice president in the investment banking department of Merrill Lynch and held positions at Colgate-Palmolive Company and Bankers Trust Company. He is a friend of the Gutin family.

Derek A. Stern, Ph.D., is in private practice treating adults and late adolescents and also consults with companies on personnel and organizational issues. He trained as a psychoanalytically oriented psychologist at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

Racheal L. Stuart is the vice president for programs at the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. She has lost several close friends to suicide and defines it as a critical public health issue. She feels reducing stigma around mental illness and suicide is important. She has a master’s degree in organizational management.
